The Power of the Word

Scotty-thumbIn Ezekiel chapter 37, God shows Ezekiel a valley full of bones…very, dry bones.  As verse eleven explains, the bones represented the “whole house of Israel.”  At this particular time in their history, Israel was in desperate condition.  They were in exile and could find no reasonable hope of restoration by any human means.  The whole house of Israel had as much chance of “living again” as did a valley of dry bones.

However, it is circumstances such as these that God relishes!

Are you saying God loves to put His people into awful predicaments?  No!  The people of Israel were in exile because of their gross disobedience, not because God had failed.  God relishes these times because He desires to reconcile His people to Himself and to show Himself strong on their behalf.

How could it be possible for dry bones to live again?  The secret power lies in the Word of God!  Verse 4 says this:

“Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.

Are you in a desperate situation today?  Have you lost all hope?  Does there seem to be no way out? Hear the Word of the Lord!

“Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:   And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.”  Eze. 37:5-6

God is ready to speak His Word into your valley of dry bones.  He desires to breathe life back into that which, by all appearances, is forever dead.  He desires put sinew and flesh back together, restoring hope and crushing desperation.   But why, you say?  Because God desires that you understand He is the Lord and besides Him, there is none other!  He is the way, the truth, and the life! We must depend upon Him!

“And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, and shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.” Eze. 37:13-14

So, in your desperation, in your hopelessness, seek the Word of the Lord! Dig into your Bible and ask God to speak directly to you from His Word.  Acknowledge you have a valley full of dry bones and that you need to hear from heaven.  He has promised that those that seek will find!  You may just see your valley of dry bones stand up again as a new army for the Lord.
